TYPE OF SCHOOL
Eagle Valley High School is a four-year comprehensive high school enrolling 650 students. Eagle Valley is accredited by the Colorado Department of Education through the district accreditation process. It holds membership in the Colorado Council of High School/College Relations.
COMMUNITY
Eagle Valley is one of two traditional high schools and an alternative high school in Eagle County School District which serves close to 5000 students in 16 schools. Eagle County is a mountain resort community of 15,000 full time residents located 100 miles west of Denver in the Colorado Rockies. The county includes the internationally known ski resorts of Vail and Beaver Creek. Eagle County is an economically and culturally diverse community with a cosmopolitan atmosphere, rich in natural beauty and opportunity.
ENROLLMENT
625 students, approximately 60% Caucasian and 40% Hispanic including 15% limited English speakers.
FACULTY
EVHS has 67 staff members, with an average of 12 years experience including 2 counselors and 3 administrators.
SCHOOL YEAR
Starting in 2004-05, EVHS has three 12 week trimesters, 70 min classes each earning .5 credit. Previous years were 18 wk semesters, 7 period traditional schedule .5 credit per semester
CURRICULUM
Over 115 courses are offered in 15 departments
Honors courses are offered in English I and II, Geometry, and Algebra II as of the start of the 2002-03 and are designated by HON on the transcript. Grades in Honors are not weighted.
Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered in 9 subjects: English Literature, World History, Studio Art. American Government, and Psychology
Dual Enrollment (DE) classes offered in conjunction with Colorado Mountain College in the 2006-2007 school year include: US History 1&2, College Algebra, College Trigonometry, Calculus I & II, College Chemistry I & II, Biology, and English Composition I & II.
GRADUATION
26 credits are required for graduation in 2007 and 27 credits each year after that with a minimum in the following areas: (One semester/trimester equals .5 credits.)

GRADING AND RANKING
Grades are given on a letter scale: A, B, C, D, and F.
AP and Dual Enrollment classes are weighted by 1.0.
GPA is calculated using only trimester/semester grades to include all coursework. Class rankings are based on cumulative GPA.
