103 Chad Strakbein placed 4th and qualified for the State Tournament held at the Pepsi Center Feb. 15, 16, and 17.

Chad did what he needed to do to get to state. He lost to two of the top ranked kids in Colorado, but beat four other very good wrestlers to secure his spot.

112 Josh Wamboldt placed 6th. He gave everything he had, but came up short of qualifying for the state tournament. I really thought Josh was going to qualify for the state tournament. Weird things happen at regionals.

119 Joey Bajza wrestled very well, but did not place. He went 2-2 at the tournament.

125 Manuel Carrasco, 140 Trent Book, 152 Dwayne Noriega and 215 Kieran Hurtt did not place.

135 Andrew Hill did not place, but will be a force to reckon with in the future. He beat one very good wrestler at the tourney.

130 James Harvey won his bracket to secure a great position at the state tournament. He had 3 pins (1:05, 1:06 and :46) and a technical fall (22-5) on his way to an individual title.

189 Brendan Best took second place. He lost in the finals to undefeated Nick Navratil of Moffat County. The final score was 2-1 in triple overtime. That sets up a 2nd round meeting with nationally ranked Sonny Yohn of Alamosa in the state tournament.
