 Ron Beard Head Coach

Ron Beard begins his 4th year as the head wrestling coach. Before that, he was  an assistant football coach for the Devils for 4 years and he also started the local Pee Wee football program. He has coached tee-ball, baseball, and has helped coach wrestling programs at different levels, including a one year stint at Amphitheater High School in Tucson, Arizona.

Beard was a Colorado high school state champion in wrestling in 1986. He graduated from Fruita Monument High School and went on to wrestle at the collegiate level. In the 86-87 season, Beard made the varsity squad at Division I Drake University. After the school cut the wrestling program, Beard then returned to Colorado where he wrestled for Mesa State College for three seasons.

Beard received his Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts in 1991 with certifications in Broadcast and Print Journalism and Public Relations. He worked in janitorial sales for 10 years before deciding to become a teacher. "I love teaching. It was a brilliant career move," states Beard. Ron teaches the broadcast and video production classes at EVHS.

Beard has lived in Eagle with his wife Debby since 1991 and has two daughters. Hayley, age 13 and Jaycey, age 9 are very involved in dance, drumming, and outdoor sports. "My family is the most important thing in my life. It is with their blessing and support that I am able to coach. They enjoy it as much as I do," said Beard.

After high school Luke went to college at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. He received a degree in History and Secondary Education. Once again, he maintained a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.4. Luke was a resident advisor in his dorm and occasionally volunteered for habitat for humanity and a mentor program. A great portion of his time was spent wrestling and training for wrestling. After living in Iowa for four years Luke returned to his home in Avon. He is excited to be back and can’t wait until the season begins.
